Janet Giler

Dr. Janet Z. Giler, a licensed family therapist with over twenty-five years of experience, has helped thousands of people cope with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, trauma, anger, as well as resolve specific marriage and family conflicts using solution-oriented family therapy (a short-term model to help people change.) A specialist in helping people through difficult life transitions, Dr. Giler’s practice uses an eclectic mix of psychodynamic and behavioral methods. Her focus on solutions enables her to quickly work through conflicts, traumas and psychological blocks in her work with individuals, families and couples. For fifteen years, she has worked with families with Attention Deficit Disorder and Learning Disabilities helping them solve problems learn parting skills and teach their children social skills.

Dr. Giler is a clinical member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists), and a clinical member and approved Supervisior with AAMFT (American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists).

Her therapeutic practice includes:

  • Individual Psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, goals planning, relationship skills, life transitions
  • Couples/Relationship/Marriage Counseling: marital or relationship difficulties, communication and anger problems, infidelity, divorce.
  • EMDR-Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): for rapid relief of anxiety, phobias, fears, rape recovery, psychological abuse or neglect, abandonment, divorce, excessive anger as well as self-limiting beliefs and performance blocks.

A past professor of marriage and family therapist, an AAMFT approved supervisor, an author and educator, Dr. Giler’s experience as a family therapist has helped many people release unwanted patterns/beliefs, resolve old feelings that are blocking their personal power, enhance self acceptance and learn the necessary skills needed to have satisfying relationships.
